About This Game

Mythic Beast Garden is a relaxing idle collection game. Open spirit boxes to encounter and bond with mythical beasts — a jade qilin, a soaring roc, a lucky koi, and more. Each beast you collect generates spirit energy passively and expands your legendary menagerie.

It's a gentle, rewarding idle experience built around discovery and collection. The thrill is in opening the next box and seeing which rare beast you'll bond with.

Strategy Tips

Keep collecting. Each beast adds passive energy. A fuller garden grows faster.

Open boxes often. New beasts come from boxes — the more you open, the rarer the ones you'll find.

Why We Built This

Mythic Beast Garden is a collection incremental where each beast you attract generates a unique resource type. Phoenixes generate fire essence, water serpents generate tidal energy, and each resource powers different upgrades. The collection spiral works like this: more beasts generate more resources, which lets you buy better habitats, which attract rarer beasts. We balanced the beast rarity so that common beasts stay useful even after you unlock legendaries — nothing ever becomes obsolete.

Strategy Guide

Mythic Beast Garden combines collection mechanics with idle progression. Each mythical beast has a habitat preference, a feeding schedule, and a unique drop. The 12 base beasts can be bred into 24 hybrid variants, each with higher-value drops. The optimal early strategy: fill your garden with low-tier beasts (10-minute hatch time) to generate baseline essence, then save essence for a tier-3 beast. Tier-3 beasts produce rare drops that accelerate essence generation by 5x. The breeding system uses a Punnett-square mechanic: combining a Fire Drake (fire) with a Frost Wyrm (water) has a 25% chance of producing a Storm Drake (air) with boosted stats. Each beast has a happiness meter that decays by 1% per hour of neglect. Happy beasts (80%+) drop resources 2x faster. Garden expansions cost increasing amounts of essence: the 5th plot costs 100, the 10th costs 5000. Prioritize plot expansion early when costs are low.

Play Tips

The breeding formula follows predictable Mendelian genetics. A Fire Drake (F) bred with a Frost Wyrm (W) produces: 25% Fire Drake (F+F), 25% Frost Wyrm (W+W), 50% Storm Drake (F+W hybrid). The hybrid has boosted stats: 1.5x drop rate and 2x max happiness compared to base beasts. The optimal breeding strategy is to maintain a breeding pair of each element type (Fire, Water, Earth, Air) and sell all non-hybrid offspring. Hybrid beasts from different pairs can sometimes breed into legendary variants (1% chance) with 5x essence generation. The garden attracts wild beasts automatically based on the total happiness of your current beasts.

Technical Note

Technical note: the Mendelian breeding system uses a 2x2 Punnett square implemented as a lookup table for 12 base types and their 24 hybrids. Happiness decay runs on a 5-minute tick timer that pauses when the game tab is active. Each beast's resource generation is calculated as base_rate * happiness_multiplier * tier_bonus, computed every 500ms for smooth visual updates.
